International Rescue Committee- The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is on the ground in more than 40 countries, providing emergency relief, relocating refugees, and rebuilding lives in the wake of disaster. Lutheran Social Services, Services for New Americans- With offices in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont, Lutheran Social Services (LSS) offers a variety of services to assist refugees and immigrants with their transition. U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants- Since 1911, the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI) has been serving uprooted people, regardless of their nationality, race, ideology, or social group throughout the United States (IA, MI, NC, NY, PA, VT). We continue to provide tools and opportunities for self-sufficiency to refugees and immigrants nationwide, fight refugee warehousing around the world, and protect the rights of migrating children. Catholic Social Services- Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services (RAIS) provides a bridge for refugees from their former life experiences to the new skills required for success in the United States. Volunteer opportunities include: family mentoring, transportation assistance and providing meals or groceries. Schedules are very flexible. Catholic Social Services Refugee Program- The Refugee Resettlement Program is the branch of Catholic Social Services created to meet the special needs of refugees. The Mobile program is the only refugee resettlement program in Alabama. Each year, we resettle between 170-200 refugees. Most volunteer opportunities are best for students age 18 and up, and include: Translation Assistant, Office Assistant, Storage Room Inventory & Organization Assistant, Handyman or Seamstress, Arrival Preparation Assistant, ESL and After-School Tutor, and Resettlement Aide and Mentor. Younger students are encouraged to volunteer with their families or encourage schools and social groups to host donation drives of in-kind goods. Colorado Refugee ESL Volunteer Services- The Colorado Refugee English as a Second Language Program (CRESL) serves adult refugees who have recently resettled in Colorado, primarily in the Denver metro area. Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS)- Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services is a program of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut and is the local affiliate of Episcopal Migration Ministries and the Immigration and Refugee Program of Church World Service. IRIS resettles approximately 200 refugees each year. Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida, Refugee and Immigration Services- The Refugee and Immigration Services program is the second-oldest program at Lutheran Social Services. LSS staff speaks a total of 17 languages and come from 14 countries. They pave the way for refugees to learn about American culture, government requirements, banking and employment processes.
